FAQ

Below are often asked questions. Hope this helps answer some of them. If you have additional questions, kindly email me through the contact page.
I can’t decide between a male or female. Which do you recommend?
This is based on your individual situation. A female is the alpha in the breed and can be dominating at times. A male often will be more submissive. A male does not always mark just because he can. Please discuss your situation with me and we can determine which one best fits your needs/lifestyle. If the new puppy is joining your family as an additional dog please give considerable thought to the new gender you are adding. Often times, two females will argue and struggle with authority in the pack. Again, females are the leaders and as they mature they become more refined in their personality and this can cause physical attacks between each other. I recommend a male/female combination. Usually, the male will humble to her personality. (Of course, given everyone is spayed/neutered). In addition, putting two males (not intact) together typically does not result in conflict. They can live in harmony together. However, two males together that are intact with a female in proximity can result in intense physical fighting and should be avoided. The common misconception is that a male will always hunch and mark. This can easily be avoided by getting them neutered as early as 4 months of age. This prevents them from reaching sexual maturity. Please feel free to discuss this with me as I can share much more information.

What is the process of purchasing a puppy online?
I must talk to everyone who wants to purchase a puppy since I am very committed to placing my puppies in approved homes. I do not have online questionnaires. I want to make sure this is a good fit you for and the puppy. If you see an available puppy on my website or want to place a deposit on an upcoming liter, kindly email, text, or call and we will proceed from there. After our discussion, a deposit must be placed to hold the puppy.

Can I get more pictures of the puppies?
I try my best to keep the website updated with current pictures, but these little ones are incredibly hard to photograph! I prefer to use Facetime or some other form of virtual media if you would like to see the puppies.

Can you ship the puppy?

YES! At this time we are using American Airlines to ship. We will discuss the date that works the best for both of us and location closest to you. I handle the rest of the details. I charge a flat fee of $450.00 This includes the health certificate, vet visit, crate, and blanket. The puppy will leave from my nearest airport (ROA). I do not medicate my puppies for the travel. This is a little stressful for them but they handle it fine. I will provide you the tracking number so we can watch for flight delays. The airlines are very specific in what I have to provide and the steps taken to make sure the puppy is safe and comfortable during transport. Typically, the temperatures can not go above 82 degrees and below 28 degrees. The cabin area where they are located is temperature controlled. You must arrive at the airport 15-30 minutes prior to scheduled arrival time. In order to receive the puppy, you will have to present your driver identification. I highly recommend you bring a fresh blanket, baby wipes (in case they are soiled), small trash bag (to discard wipes and waste), scissors (doors are secured with zip ties), and most importantly LOTS OF LOVE !!!

How do you accept payment?

We use Paypal and Zelle. We can also can accept money orders and, of course, cash. The Paypal and Zelle accounts are associated with the email address: Andersons4071@yahoo.com / 540-353-5736. We will discuss which method works best for you during our initial puppy conversation. Please keep in mind if you are using Paypal, etc to add the extra fee they charge.

What/How much do you feed?

We recommend feeding Purina Pro Plan puppy formula – chicken and rice (kibble). Feed your puppy first thing in the morning, at noon, and again in the evening. You may end up eliminating the noon feeding. I do not measure my food, giving them a full bowl. They are not a food driven breed, and will usually walk away when they are full. However, while potty training, follow the steps mentioned in potty training section. My adult dogs remain on the Puppy formula for their entire lives. They maintain a healthy weight and are doing well. Therefore, when your puppy reaches adulthood and is still doing well on the food, “don’t fix something that isn’t broken.” Most all pet stores sell this brand as well as Chewy.com.

Is the deposit refundable?

Unfortunately, no. When we take a deposit from you, that means we most likely turned down another potential buyer. This is the fair way to do business.
